About Blog
Hello, dear readers.
One night, a little drunk, I stood on a rooftop under a full moon and recited "Hansando-ga," and that was the night I met Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
For the twenty-five years since, I have studied the Admiral on my own.
The more I studied him, the more I came to see that there was something worth learning more than the legend of twenty-three battles and twenty-three victories. It was the attitude of one human being: a man who was thrown into prison and tortured, who faced his mother's death while walking the road as a disgraced common soldier, who lost even the son he loved most, and who still rose to his feet and went back out to sea.
This blog is not a place for listing historical facts.
It is a space where I follow the feelings hidden between the lines of the Nanjung Ilgi, the Admiral's own war diary, and share with you the "lighthouse of my life" that I held on to whenever I felt wronged and worn out.
I hope my humble writing can give you a little strength on your own nights of injustice and loneliness.
Thank you.
